They learned Sanskrit from Sadashiv Mantri from Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra state of India who was very famous scholar of that time. He was the son of Sanskrit scholar Vallabhacandra. Vallabhacandra's knowledge of Sanskrit made him one of the most learned men in the region. His knowledge of Sanskrit grammar is classical, and even today there are scholars who study his work. The Maratha ruler Balaji Vishwanath (died 1761) is credited with introducing Anuvad to southern India.
